Love Talks by Dr. Gary Chapman and Ramon Presson

101 Questions to Stimulate Interaction with Your Family
Book Review by Jim Stephens:

Love Talks.

Dr. Gary Chapman is famous for his books on The Five Love Languages and The Five Languages of Apology

This book called Love Talks for Families is designed to sit upright on the dining room table and show a question (same one on both sides) that family members can read and answer as a way to stimulate conversation around dinner.

There are 101 questions so there is something for everyone in the family.

This is a great idea that in a very fun and practical way makes  coming to dinner together an experience to look forward to. Often it's hard for families to talk about subjects other than superficial day-to-day activities.

It doesn't have to be used everyday, but after just a few experiences, this type of book should stimulate a deeper connection of heart within a family and even among relatives and friends that might visit.

Other places that the questions could be used are in a family gathering before bedtime, in the car, on vacation, or as a party game/ice-breaker.

Here are some examples of questions that I liked:

# 2.  Name one talent you wish you had.

# 3.  If you had to give sight, hearing, the ability to speak, or the ability to walk, which would you choose?

# 6.  If you could go on vacation to another country, which one would you select?

# 9. If you could choose any kind of unconventional pet, what would you choose?

# 14.  If you could ask God any question, what would you ask?

# 16. If I could be any kind of animal for a day, I'd like to be a ...

# 20.  As a surprise for your birthday we've arranged for a famous person of your choice to attend. Whom will you choose?

# 24.  What were the best and worst moments from this past week?

# 27. How would you describe your internal attitude this week in terms of the weather? For example: partly cloudy, hot and dry, cold and rainy, partly sunny, thunderstorms, fog, etc.

# 32. If we choose someone in our extended family,
neighborhood, church, or workplace for whom we are going to do something helpful, who would we choose and what would we do?

# 42. What was your best day this past week?

# 55. What is something that you are worried about these days?

# 74. What was something encouraging or positive that happened today?

# 78. If our house was on fire and all the people and animals were safe, what one thing would you want to be able to retrieve?

# 90. Something that I am looking forward to in the next few weeks or months is...

# 96. What is something that you remember about a time that you were very sick or injured?

God bless your marriage and family.
