Unconditional Respect For Your Husband

Many women struggle with showing their husbands unconditional respect.
 
They think, "He doesn't deserve my respect."
 
Even if he doesn't deserve your respect, you need to treat him with respect by faith. If you don't believe in him, he has no reason to try to improve. If the one who knows him best doesn't respect him, what's the use? Why should he try? Why should he stick around?
 
At one point in Scripture God called Abram the "father of many", and this was years before he was even a father.
 
It says God "calls things that are not as though they were."
 
Once God called Gideon a "mighty man of valor" while he was still a coward in hiding. Jesus called Peter a strong "rock" when he was still a two-faced, blubbering, weasel of a man.
 
In the end, each of these men became the kind of respectful men God knew they were capable of becoming. Sometimes that is what you have to do with a goofball husband. You have to look at him "as though he were" a respectable one. Believe in him.
