What Does Love Look Like For Your Spouse?

By Gary Chapman

Summary of this article

Dr. Gary Chapman asserts that there are 5 different "love languages" and each of us "speaks" one of them. If you don't communicate to a person in their "love language", then they will not recognize that you are expressing love.

This is one of the simplest and most profound paradigms for understanding a practical solution to loving relationships. It helps explain so many experiences you have.

At the end of the article I have put a link to a very simple test to discover your "love language". It is totally worth your time to find out.

God bless your family and your marriage.

What Does Love Look Like For Your Spouse?

By Gary Chapman

Love doesn't need to diminish after the wedding. After more than thirty years as a marriage counselor, I'm convinced that most couples really do love each other. The problem is that they don't understand that what makes one person feel loved is not what makes another person feel loved.

So he is saying, "I love you. I love you." And she is thinking, "If you love me why don't you wash the dishes tonight."

His love language is Words of Affirmation, but her love language is Acts of Service.

Learning to speak your spouse's love language is the key to keeping love alive after the wedding.

Learning a new love language will take effort and discipline.

The reward is a lasting, deeply committed relationship.
