Celebrate Each Other With All Five Senses
By John Gray
Because you and your loved one lead very busy lives, the times in which you can be romantic isn't as frequent as you'd like.
To make the most of your romantic down time, think of these precious moments of intimacy as a mini getaways, when you escape from the rigors of your careers, tax planning, house cleaning, grocery shopping, and anything else that keeps you from the business of lovemaking. That means disconnecting from the outside world in order to take an hour or two to reconnect with each other.
By using all five senses that Martians and Venusians all share, you can find new ways in which to celebrate each other...
1. Hear only your favorite tunes.
Start by taking the phone off the hook. Whether you're spending thirty minutes or three hours cuddled in each others' arms, try to disconnect yourselves from the outside world. Telephones, Blackberries, and every other instrument that will cause you to come down from the clouds should be silenced and put away.
If you're the parents of young children, you of course want to remain accessible. But remember: that's what having caller ID is all about.
Do you have music that you both love to hear, or to dance to, or to make love to? If the answer is yes, then put it on. Music moves the soul. And when music moves you both in a rhythm together, that's all the better.
2. Taste the pleasures of delightful treats.
That might be a favorite drink, a special meal, or perhaps just sharing a few treats that delight you. Indulgence welcomes relaxation and great romantic interludes are best when both of you are filled with the warm satisfaction that we feel when we have been pampered with a delicious treat.
3. Touch entangled in a warm bath.
Passion and arousal of the senses go together. Slipping into a warm bubble bath together and gently washing each other is a wonderfully sensuous experience that washes away the rest of the world and leaves just the two of you.
4. Smell scented candles and fresh sheets.
Wonderful scents are such an absolute turn on. From bath soaps, to cut flowers, there's no way better to share in each others' delights than to surround yourself with a garden of sweet fragrances.
5. See only the smiles of satisfaction.
All of us respond instinctively when looking into a partner's face that is filled with the joy of love and happiness. That deep sense of happiness ignites our joy as well.
Mutual smiles of sexual satisfaction are the reward for a romantic getaway well planned and well spent.
