Did I Marry the Right Person?

By Bob and Cheryl Moeller

The idea that we married the "wrong" person presupposes that there was a "right" person for us to marry but we didn't happen to guess correctly the first time around.

To believe that we can find happiness with only one special person in the entire universe seems a little far-fetched to me.

Is there only one house in the entire nation that you could live in and be happy? Only one type of car that could bring you satisfaction?

In addition to that, your definition of the right person may also change with the passing seasons of life. Life is like that. Today you may be thinking you made the wrong choice, but let me encourage you, there are other seasons ahead.

If you will soften your heart and begin building a marriage characterized by honesty, forgiveness, and acceptance, you may make a remarkable discovery.

The individual you married can become the most precious person to you in all the world - even if they never change.

We strongly believe that God wants us to honor our marriage vows and spend our lifetime with the same mate.

God would not ask us to do such a thing if he did not build into the plan of marriage the ability to learn to love one another. Whether or not we believe we married the "right person," God can give us the capacity to become the right people for each other.

Bob once asked his parents how they made it through fifty years of marriage. They smiled and said, "We just decided we would." In the end, that's what marriage comes down to.

When we decide we have married the right person, we have.
