Summary of this article
I really like this article, brief and straight to the point. Back in the 1980's, I had a number of experiences with the power of foot-washing. When I was a pastor after that, I used it several times for gatherings of members. It always seemed like a very holy experience. Jim |
The Key to Everything
By Dr. Gary Chapman
Want to know the secret to everything? ...including being a successful husband.
I think I have it - the key to the whole thing. Jesus, the greatest leader the world has ever known, on His knees with a basin of water and a towel, washing the feet of his followers.
Rising to explain his actions he said: "I'm your leader and in my kingdom this is the way you lead." We lead others by serving others.
Put that principle into your marriage and you will have the key to everything.
Husbands who ask: "What can I do to help you? How can I make your life easier? How can I be a better husband to you?" are the husbands who are becoming true followers of Jesus.
Their leadership will get a response from their wives. Very few wives will walk away from a husband who is serving her, seeking to meet her needs, thinking of her interests above his own.
Gentlemen, if you want a growing marriage. Nothing is more powerful than becoming a servant leader.
