Give Her A Gift for No Reason
By David and Claudia Arp
From 10 Great Dates
Once, on a special promotional offer from a local department store, Dave purchased several small sample bottles of perfumes and lotions. He individually wrapped each one, and each evening he hid one under Claudia's pillow.
The first night, she was surprised; the second night, she was more surprised; and the third and fourth nights, she even went to bed earlier.
A word of caution: If your mate reads this chapter and you begin to get little gifts, cards, and extra attention, enjoy it.
Please don't say, "I know - it's just because you read that Arp book!" Instead, express your thanks and appreciation for such a thoughtful partner.
Tip About Developing a Sense of Humor
A first cousin to encouragement (see Marriage Tip from Nov. 9...Jim) is laughter. There are times in life when you can either laugh or cry. We try to choose laughter.
Laughter dispels tension. It's good for your physical health, and it's definitely good for the health of your marriage.
When we laugh together, we seem to be more affirming.
When we're under stress, we benefit from trying to find some way to lighten things up. We all have difficult situations in our lives.
If we can step back, not take ourselves too seriously, and find something to laugh about, we can keep our relationship on a more positive track.
